Microsoft Fluent Design Principles

Microsoft's four Fluent design principles evolved from their heritage to guide cross-platform experiences that feel natural, focused, inclusive, and unmistakably Microsoft across web, iOS, Android, and Windows.

  1. Natural on every platform

Experiences should adapt to the device you’re on and build off the familiar, designing for what you already understand while reusing native platform components and patterns.

  2. Built for focus

Experiences should inspire action and draw you forward simply and seamlessly, with less visual clutter and noise to keep people centered, calm, and confident.

  3. One for all, all for one

Experiences should consider, learn, and reflect a range of perspectives and abilities for the benefit of all, including diverse people earlier in the design process.

  4. Unmistakably Microsoft

Experiences should feel like one Microsoft across products, focusing energy on signature experiences that connect products together with distinctively Microsoft branding.
