Uber Design Principles

Three principles for designing driver-facing experiences, emphasising context-awareness and minimal distraction while driving.

  1. Instructive

    Guide users clearly through what they need to do. Provide direction without requiring them to figure things out themselves.

  2. Non-intrusive

    Respect the user’s primary task—in this case, driving safely. Don’t demand attention at dangerous moments.

  3. Focused and Timely

    Show only what’s relevant right now. Information should appear when needed and disappear when it’s not.
